Press Release – D3 Community Outreach, Inc. – Jacksonville, FL.
“Empowering youth by building the bridge to their dreams”
D3 Community Outreach, Inc. is proud to announce that it will be expanding and opening a new branch of the organization in Jacksonville, FL. this summer. “It is exactly what GOD envisioned 10 years ago, a seed being planted in a young person and now to see it grow…I am honored and speechless” says Malcom Reed, Founder. The CEO/President of the Jacksonville branch will be Marcus Alexander Wells, D3 alumni. Marcus A. Wells was born in Topeka, Kansas and relocated to Durham, North Carolina, where he was raised. Wells came through D3 programs as a youth and has 3 years of experience working with youth who find themselves disconnected and no ability to connect with community/adult supports. Basketball has carried Wells from Durham NC to Winston-Salem State University; where he holds a degree in Criminal Justice and Tanta Egypt, where he started his Professional basketball career. Wells will be the CEO/President of the D3 branch in Jacksonville FL, which is set to open in the summer of 2016. “Given back has always been a part of my dream but to share this stage with Mr. Malcom, is just icing on the cake” says Wells.
Wells looks to begin his efforts with the launching of a “FREE” weeklong basketball camp for youth between the ages of 14 – 18. Dubbed “PLM: Pro Life with Marc” will give these youth a first-hand look at the work needed to be a professional athlete. This camp will offer youth a comprehensive approach to both physical and mental improvements in not only the game of basketball but also in life. PLM will be broken into four areas of instruction: individual offense, defense, shooting and team skills that will be coupled with various breakout sessions on post-secondary education, community service, financial literacy and personal growth/leadership to name a few. “I want to help these young people elevate their talent, confidence and mental toughness allowing them to become great leaders while building the bridge to their dreams” says Wells.
